The Engine

The engine is the heart of an aircraft and the primary source of power that makes it fly, the piston engine is most commonly used in most aircraft.

A piston engine is a type of internal combustion engine, this means that it burns the fuel in an enclosed combustion chamber to create heat and pressure, which then ultimately powers the pistons.

The engine of an aircraft is usually located in the front and is driven by a number of pistons that are connected to the crankshaft, which spins and rotates inside the case of the engine.

The cylinders inside the engine of an aircraft are used to bank fire air into combustion chambers, where each cylinder is surrounded by a piston. The heat created from these rods causes the fuel to be ignited and vaporised, which ultimately results in a burst of power for your airplane.

The turbines are located at the centre of the engine and are used to create an axial force that is transferred via a shaft to propeller blades fixed on either side of the aircraft. These blades then turn in a way to produce thrust which ultimately helps your aircraft to move through the air.

The majority of airplanes are powered by either turboprops or jets, both of them use different types of engines and produce power between 10 and 100 horsepower each.

The amount of power an engine produces depends upon how many cylinders it has and how many turns they take per second.

The main role of an engine is to generate power and provide thrust to your aircraft for movement. But in addition to this, it also needs to be designed well so that it can last longer without causing problems like oil leaks or overheating.

The Landing Gear

In addition to the engine, the landing gear is one of the most vital parts of an aircraft. As it keeps the airplane on the ground and prevents it from crashing.

When you land an aircraft, your landing gear will be lowered to allow the wheels of your airplane to touch down right at the end of the runway, all of this prevents any damage to your aircraft.

The landing gear of an aircraft is a retractable, horizontal surface that connects the plane to the ground. It is made out of carbon fibre composite materials to make sure that it can keep up with the weight of the plane.
