With the invention of aircraft, traveling became really easy and fun. Now people travel from one continent to another in just a few hours. In the past, it used to take days or even weeks to go from one city to another, but now, after the creation of aircraft, you can reach different cities and states in a matter of a few hours.

Aircraft have really made our lives easier as they save a lot of time which used to get wasted in traveling in the previous centuries. Apart from making lives easier and saving time, air travel is also one of the most reliable modes of transport because it's fast, safe, and accidents rarely happen.

According to the article “2017 safest year for air travel as fatalities fall,” published by BBC on 2nd January 2018 (not including the acts of suicide, hijacking, or sabotage), there were only 14 accidents worldwide that resulted in 59 fatalities. This was a huge improvement from 2016 figures which recorded 258 deaths in 17 accidents.

According to Statista, in the year 2021, 176 fatalities were recorded in aircraft accidents, so these numbers keep on fluctuating because whatever the year is, these accidents can only be prevented with proper aircraft maintenance.

Most aircraft crash due to improper maintenance. Hence, if you want to minimize airplane crashes, you need to hire a certified aircraft welding technician and get all your aircrafts checked and maintained by these trained professionals.

There are some important things that if you check before flying, your aircraft will be in its safest mode. Keep on reading, and you will find a list of the common things you should check before flying your plane.

Mechanic Eye Inspection

Just like we humans go to the doctor for our inspection similarly, aircraft need to go to their mechanic and welding technician for their inspection.

Commercial planes are inspected every 24 hours without a gap since they are used more often and are entrusted with so many human lives. They are checked by certified aircraft welding technicians and mechanics every 24 hours to make sure that they are in good condition.

While inspecting an aircraft, the mechanic looks out for the things like possible leakage of the engine, the thickness of the tires, possible cracks on the propeller, the state of the aircraft exhaust, the condition of the brakes, the functionality of air data sensors, and visible damage in the airframe.

Once all of this is checked and cleared by a certified aviation welding technician and mechanic, a report is forwarded to the managers, and the airplane is ready for takeoff.

There are some aircraft that can be more difficult to check than others. However, there are some personal-owned planes like the Cessna 340 and Cessna 140 that are easier to inspect.

So if you own a personal aircraft or a commercial airplane, the first thing you need to do before taking it out is to get it inspected by a certified aviation mechanic.

Pilot Eye Inspection

The aviation welding technician just did a round of tests; now, it's time for the pilot to inspect the aircraft.

Pilot eye inspection is really important for the safety and security of the passengers, pilots, and the assets the plane carries during the flight.

Pilots who are well rested are welcomed for such inspections, as the mechanics work round the clock they are usually fatigued. That is why it is always better to double-check the aircraft.

Missing even the tiniest bit of detail can mean life or death during the flight. Hence before the aircraft is able to take off, a pilot is required to do a walk-around inspection of the airplane.

System Checks

This procedure takes only about a minute or two but is the most important thing that needs to be checked before you fly your aircraft.

Most pilots often neglect this part but skipping the system checks can be very dangerous because these checks tell the pilot if there are any possible unseen problems that might happen during the flight. So make sure you carry out a system check before heading to the runway.
